Ghanaian defender Alexander Djiku has assured that Fenerbahce will continue fighting until the end of the season as they push to claim the Turkish Super Lig title.
Djiku returned to action on Monday night, playing a crucial role in his side’s hard-fought goalless draw against league leaders Galatasaray. The Black Stars defender, who had been sidelined since February 5, came on as a second-half substitute for Caglar Soyuncu and delivered a solid performance in the highly competitive Week 25 fixture.
Despite the result, Fenerbahce remain six points behind Galatasaray, who top the table with 64 points after 25 matches. However, Djiku remains confident that his side can still secure the title.
“We started the match well as we showed our rhythm. We scored a goal but it was disallowed due to a foul and continued our game. We couldn’t find the goal that would’ve given us the three points at the end of the game. We will fight until the end as nothing is over! We want to get the best results in the next month,” he said after the match.
Djiku has now made 28 appearances for Fenerbahce across all competitions this season. His return also comes as a boost for Ghana, with the Black Stars set to resume their World Cup qualifying campaign in March against Chad and Madagascar.
