The Black Stars of Ghana were once again unconvincing in the second of their 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
Ghana failed to create a single chance in the first half of the game and struggles to get into the opposition’s box for the majority of the second period of the game.

Richard Ofori 5/10
The Orlando Pirates didn’t have too much to do in post and was let off the hook in both halves after misjudging an attack from South African team. However, looked composed after those howlers.
Fatawu Mohammed 5/10
Making his maiden Black Stars appearance, the Hearts of Oak right-back looked decent defensively for the team but did not offer Ghana much options going forward.
Jonathan Mensah 6/10
At his usual best, strong composed and calm but there was little he could do to stop the South African goal.
Alexander Djiku 7/10
Just like in the game against Ethiopia, the France-based central defender was the commanding force at the back for the team.
Gideon Mensah 6.5/10
Mensah was one of the brightest players throughout the game. Offered so many options both defensively and offensively but most of his runs going forward were overlooked.
Emmanuel Lomotey 5/10
Lomotey had a nervous start to the game, giving away too many balls but settled well and had control over the midfield alongside his partner.
Mubarak Wakaso 5.5/10
Tidied up defensive duties on a couple of occasions but his final balls were far from the very best we have seen from him in the past.
Majeed Ashimeru 4/10
Charged with the task to be the team’s creator in the middle of the park, Ashimeru struggled to make a real impact in the game until his substitution.
Yaw Yeboah 5/10
After a good cameo against Ethiopia, the forward was expected to play a key role but just could not find his spark as Ghana succumbed to defeat.
Andre Ayew 5/10
Was left too lonely at the top for the majority of the game. Andre’s form will be worrying for Charles Akonnor and Ghanaians as a whole should things continue this way.
Joel Fameye 5/10
Brought in as one of the many changes in the set-up, Fameye did very little to leave his mark on the game and took a caution in the first half for a high foot tackle.
SUBSTITUTES
Kwame Opoku 4/10
The centre-forward did not get the needed services to make an impact for the team. He was a passer by.
Samuel Owusu 4/10
Owusu was far from his best in the 15 minutes he was given against the South Africans.
Lawrence Ati-Zigi 4/10
The shot-stopper conceded the only he faced after coming on in place of Ofori.
