Ajax Amsterdam coach Erik ten Hag has said that Sébastien Haller would ‘probably not’ have come to the Dutch giants if the other strikers were fit and Brian had extended his contract.
The gaffer is, however, disappointed that the eighteen-year-old attacker has still not signed a new deal with the Eredivisie powerhouse.
“I think Ajax is a leading youth academy in the world. Ajax produces a lot of players. The first team is a springboard for top clubs in Europe, look at Frenkie, look at Donny. And then I think it’s very regrettable that a player here ten years in the training, that player then leaves too early “, Ten Hag said at the press conference in the run-up to the Eredivisie top match against PSV.
He further stated that: “We trained him with Jong, involved in the first team. But then it is very unfortunate that there is no signature yet”, Ten Hag continues about Brobbey. “He has to make a choice. It’s up to him, it’s his career. He has the right to talk to other clubs. But it’s a shame.”
Ten Hag agrees that Haller may not have come without the injuries and contract perils surrounding Brobbey. “Probably not. But everything came together now, and Haller fits the profile of an Ajax striker perfectly.”
Brobbey is currently on the radar of Italian side AC Milan.
