Ajax head coach Alfred Schreuder has revealed that he isn’t surprised by Mohammed Kudus’ current form.
The 22-year-old has scored six goals in nine matches this season, earning plaudits from Ghanaians.
Schreuder revealed that he always felt Kudus could play well in a false 9, his current position with Ajax.
“I did say to him: don’t start thinking: oh dear, the trainer no longer sees me as a midfielder. It is not like that. But I am charmed by him in the front,” said Schreuder at the time.
“You try something like that because you think it’s possible,” said the trainer after the game with Rangers.
Kudus was close to leaving the club for Everton, boycotting training before the summer transfer window ended.
