Daniel Afriyie Barnieh delivered a match-winning performance for FC Aarau on Sunday, scoring a crucial late goal to seal a hard-fought 2-1 away victory over Neuchâtel Xamax in the Swiss Challenge League.
With the game finely poised at 1-1 and both sides pushing for a breakthrough, Barnieh stepped up in the 81st minute, finishing confidently to hand Aarau all three points. The Ghanaian forward’s strike—his fifth goal of the season—could not have come at a better time, as it ended the club’s two-game losing streak and lifted the mood in the Aarau camp.
The result also strengthens Aarau’s push to climb the table after a difficult run of form, with Barnieh once again proving to be one of the team’s most reliable attacking threats this season.
His decisive contribution adds to what has been an impressive campaign for the former Hearts of Oak star, who continues to grow in influence in the Swiss second tier.
