Ghana’s participation in the 2021 Aisha Buhari Invitational Women’s Football Tournament is in limbo as Black Queens players have boycotted camping over unpaid allowances, Sports World Ghana has gathered.
Head coach Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo and his ladies were supposed to start preparations at the Ghanaman Soccer Excellence – Prampram on Sunday but players have failed to turn up in camp due to the unresolved issues with outstanding bonuses.
Ghana Sports Online reports that the Ghana FA has failed to facilitate the payment of transportation and camping allowances to the players when the team last converged in July.
“The last time they reported to camp they had to pay for their T&T themselves. They were told they will be paid via MoMo but nobody has received a penny from the GFA. They have also enquired about their allowances for this tournament in Nigeria and we have been told there is no money. So they have resolved not to honour the invitation,” the source told Ghana Sports Online.
Head coach Mercy Tagoe recently named a 30-woman squad for camping ahead of the tournament.
