Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC coach, Maxwell Konadu is set to be named as the head coach for Ghana’s national under – 17 team, Sportsworldghana.com can confirm.
The former Ghana International has been out of job since last year when he was sacked by two-time CAF Champions League winners Asante Kotoko SC due to bad performance.
With Ben Fokuo, the former coach of the Black Starlets landing the coaching role as the Black Queens coach, the U-17 job became vacant and up for grabs.
Sportsworldghana can confirm that, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) after consultation and deliberations between the top executives at the association have settled on hiring the experienced and former player as coach to develop the country’s young talents.
Konadu’s appointment is expected to be made public by the close of today after a successful and a fruitful meeting between the two parties.
The former Kotoko coach had stint with Ghana’s Black Stars as an assistant coach since 2014 and was later appointed as Black Stars B main coach.
After his appointment as he head coach of the ‘local Black Stars’ Ghana failed twice to qualify for the CHAN tournament but won the WAFU Zone B trophy and played in the finals of the last edition where they lost to Senegal in the final match of the tournament to place second.
