Black Starlets head coach Ben Forkuo is looking forward to sealing the lapses in his team ahead of the epic game with Ivory Coast on Tuesday.
The Ghana national under 17 team drew 1-1 with Nigeria on Saturday and needs just a draw or win against their Western neighbors if they are to realize their dream of sealing a semi final berth.
The gaffer of the side Ben Forkuo insists that he has detected what went wrong against the Golden Eaglets and it will be worked upon as they eye a win over Group leaders Ivory Coast,
“The boys did well in the game against Nigeria although we missed many chances that if converted would have given us victory to qualify us to the semis,” Ben Forkuo told SPORTSworldGhana.com in an exclusive interview on Sunday.
“We created lot of chances but we failed to make good use of them. This is something the technical team has noticed and we have met the players and explained to them what went wrong in the game to them so we will work on our mistakes and come back stronger against Ivory Coast in our next game.
“Of course we want to qualify to the semifinal. I believe in the boys and I know they will play better against Ivory Coast in our next game to give us victory and make it to the next phase of the tournament.”He added.
The two finalist from the tournament will make it to the 2021 Africa Under 17 Championship in Morocco.
The semi-finalists at Afcon normally qualify for the 2021 Fifa U17 World Cup but the global gathering has been cancelled due to safety concerns with the coronavirus pandemic.
