The CAF Champions League preliminary encounter between Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC and FC Noaudhibou have been called off.
The visitors refused to exempt their two players who tested positive for COVID-19 on the team’s arrival at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra two days ago according to reports from the match venue.
The officials did not allow the players to be part of the team despite they being able to sneak their way into the dressing room and completing the team’s warm up.
Noaudhibou official are said to have refused to drop the said players despite the efforts made by the match officials to ensure the game was played.
After hour of failed attempt to get those two players out of the team, the official called off the game which was scheduled to kick off at 3pm in Accra.
Kotoko drew 1-1 at the Nouakchott stadium last week.
CAF will give its verdict after 24 – 48hours when they receive official reports from the match officials.
