Asante Kotoko Public Relations Officer Lawyer Sarfo Duku has branded his team’s defeat to the poor display by the team’s defence in their game against Nkana FC on Sunday.
The Porcupine Warriors were beaten 3-1 by Zambian side Nkana FC to hand them their second defeat in the competition.
According to Sarfo Duku, the defenders let the team down which resulted into the disappointing loss.
He believes the his side’s first goal was avoidable as Ishmael Gyaniu brought down an Nkana player in the penalty box to gift the home side the first goal.
The second goal also resulted from a careless back pass from Amos Frimpong which was capitalized by Nkana striker Kampamba who scored the second goal of the game after Yacouba had earlier got the equalizer for the Porcupine Warriors.
“Most importantly, our defenders let us down, thank God Felix Annan came to the party today, if not that we would be singing a different song”, he told Oyerepa FM
Commenting further, the legal practitioner indicated that Yacouba lacked support in the game as his attacking partners Emmanuel Gyamfi and Maxwell Baakoh were dormant throughout the game.
“Things didn’t go the way we wanted today, Maxwell Baako and Emmanuel Gyamfi who were to supply balls to Yacouba were pale shadows of themselves”
Kotoko have been dealt with a big blow as captain Amos Frimpong will miss the return game due to suspension
Asante Kotoko will host Nkana FC on 3rd March, 2019 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in the reverse fixture.
