Berekum Arsenal have sealed their return to the GFA Access Division One League after defeating Bectero Sasana FC 2-1 in the final of the Brong Ahafo Regional Football Association (BARFA) Super Middle League on Sunday.
Playing at the Berekum Golden City Park, the former Ghana Premier League side delivered a spirited performance to reclaim a place in Ghana’s second-tier competition ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Adamu Mohammed was the star of the show, netting a brilliant brace to hand Arsenal the decisive advantage. Though Ken Kwadwo Adjei struck late for Bectero Sasana to reduce the deficit, it wasn’t enough to prevent Arsenal from celebrating a hard-fought and emotional promotion.
The result marks a significant milestone in Berekum Arsenal’s bid to return to the upper echelons of Ghanaian football, following several seasons in the footballing wilderness. Their comeback campaign was characterised by grit, discipline, and a clear sense of ambition.
Dr. Charles Osei Antoh, Chairman of the Brong Ahafo Regional Football Association, congratulated the club for their resilience and also commended the standard of officiating throughout the competition.
“This is not just a great moment for Berekum Arsenal, but a proud day for the entire region,” he noted after the match.
The triumph has sparked celebrations across Berekum, a town with a rich footballing heritage. With renewed energy, local support, and promotion secured, the Gunners of Berekum are now setting their sights on a strong showing in the Division One League and a long-term return to the Premier League.
