Asante Kotoko have officially presented the 2024/25 MTN FA Cup trophy to the life patron of the club, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, following their triumph over Golden Kick FC in the final.
The Porcupine Warriors were crowned champions after securing a dramatic 2-1 victory against the lower-tier side on Sunday at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium. Kwame Opoku opened the scoring for Kotoko early in the match, but Golden Kick responded through Bless Ege’s well-taken free kick, sending both sides into the break level at 1-1.
The match’s turning point came late in the second half when Kotoko were awarded a penalty. Opoku stepped up once again and calmly slotted home the decisive goal, sealing a hard-earned win for coach Abdul Karim Zito’s side and clinching the club’s 10th FA Cup title.
After returning to Kumasi on Monday, June 16, the team visited the Manhyia Palace on Wednesday, June 18, to present the trophy to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
The Kotoko delegation was led by Nana Apinkrah Akwasi Awuah, Chairman of the Interim Management Committee (IMC), alongside Kwesi Appiah and technical director Malik Jabir.
Otumfuo commended the players and technical team for their determination and success, urging them to prepare diligently for their campaign in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
Asante Kotoko’s FA Cup triumph has earned them a place in the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup, where they will aim to make a strong impression on the continental stage.
