The outstanding fixtures for Matchday 20 of the Ghana Premier League will take place across seven venues on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. Here is a detailed preview of the key matches:
Asante Kotoko vs Berekum Chelsea
Asante Kotoko will aim to reclaim the top spot from Gold Stars FC when they host Berekum Chelsea at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. The Porcupine Warriors trail the Miners by just two points and can return to the summit with a victory.
Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum’s men have been in formidable form, remaining unbeaten in the league since February 2, 2025. They have accumulated 42 points from 23 matches, scoring the joint-most goals (25) and conceding the second-fewest (14). Kotoko also boast an impressive home record with nine wins, one draw, and two defeats in 12 home games this season.
Berekum Chelsea, currently eighth with 32 points, enter the clash on a mixed run of two wins, one draw, and two defeats in their last five games. Despite scoring the third-most goals (23), their away form has been concerning, with four defeats in their last five away matches.
Kotoko have dominated this fixture at home, winning three of the last four league meetings against Chelsea since 2020.
Karela United vs Legon Cities
Karela United will host Legon Cities at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, aiming to build on their crucial 2-1 victory over Bechem United in their last outing.
Currently 15th with 22 points, Karela United are looking to improve their home form, having recorded the fewest home wins this season (3). They have, however, managed two wins and three draws in their last five home fixtures.
Legon Cities have endured a difficult campaign, suffering the most defeats (14) this season. Sitting at the bottom of the table, they have just one win in their last five games and have conceded the most goals (32). The Royals remain winless away from home, with one draw and ten losses in 11 outings.
In previous encounters, Karela United have won two, drawn one, and lost one of their four home league games against Legon Cities.
Aduana FC vs Young Apostles
Aduana FC will seek redemption at the Nana Agyeman Badu I Park after their four-game unbeaten streak was snapped by a 2-0 defeat to Medeama SC.
Currently 11th with 28 points, Aduana FC have struggled at home, despite winning their last two home games without conceding. They will look to make it three consecutive home wins when they face Young Apostles.
Young Apostles, level on points with Aduana but trailing on goal difference, have won two, drawn one, and lost two of their last five matches. As one of the top ten away performers in the league, they will be hoping for a positive result in Dormaa.
This marks the first home meeting between Aduana FC and Young Apostles in the Ghana Premier League since the latter’s promotion.
Vision FC vs FC Samartex 1996
Vision FC will attempt to return to winning ways when they host reigning champions FC Samartex 1996 at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex.
Sitting 14th with 25 points, Vision FC have struggled recently, managing only one win in their last five games. However, they remain unbeaten in their last five home matches (W3, D2) and will look to maintain that streak.
Samartex, on the other hand, are in fine form, boasting a nine-game unbeaten run (W3, D6). Currently ninth with 32 points, they have the joint-best defensive record (13 goals conceded) and will aim for their third away win of the season.
This will be the first league meeting between Vision FC and Samartex at this venue since Vision’s promotion.
Dreams FC vs Bechem United
Dreams FC will target their fourth consecutive league win when they welcome Bechem United to the Tuba AstroTurf.
Following a slow start to the season, Dreams have found their rhythm, going unbeaten in their last six matches (W4, D2). Currently 10th with 30 points, they have one of the league’s best defensive records, conceding just 17 goals.
Bechem United, sixth with 36 points, will look to bounce back after a 2-1 defeat to Karela United. Their away form, however, has been poor, with no wins in their last five road games (D1, L4).
In their last four home league meetings with Bechem United, Dreams FC have won two, drawn one, and lost one.
