Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has praised his players for their resilience and determination in the face of a congested fixture schedule, following their hard-fought 1-0 victory over Basake Holy Stars in the Ghana Premier League.
The Porcupine Warriors secured their third consecutive win at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, with Samuel Tenedu’s deflected effort in the 14th minute proving decisive. The victory extended Kotoko’s unbeaten streak to four matches and propelled them to the top of the league table.
Despite the demanding fixture list, Ogum highlighted his team’s ability to maintain high energy levels and deliver results.
“I have to commend the players for the great job they’ve done so far,” he said after the match. “The tight schedule hasn’t allowed them much time to rest, but they’ve shown incredible energy in every game.”
Ogum emphasized the importance of the win, noting that it has further strengthened the team’s confidence as they push for the league title.
“This victory is a big one for us—it gives us a lot of confidence,” he added. “Playing in the Ghana Premier League and being on top gives us hope and motivation to keep pushing.”
Kotoko’s latest triumph sees them take a one-point lead at the summit, capitalizing on Bibiani Gold Stars’ failure to secure maximum points against Hearts of Oak.
With the title race intensifying, Kotoko will now turn their attention to their upcoming home fixture against Berekum Chelsea, where they will aim to extend their lead at the top of the table.
