German-born Ghanaian defender Christopher Braun found the back of the net in Rapid București’s 1-1 draw against Universitatea Craiova in the Romania Superliga.
Playing at the Stadionul Ion Oblemenco, Braun started and played 80 minutes, making key contributions on both ends of the pitch. Rapid București took an early lead in the 18th minute when Braun finished off a counterattack initiated by Claudiu Petrila, calmly slotting the ball home to give his team the advantage.
Despite dominating possession and creating more opportunities, Universitatea Craiova equalized in the 33rd minute through Alexandru Mitriță. The equalizer came from a controversial penalty after Cristi Săpunaru’s challenge on Elvir Koljić. Replays suggested a potential handball by the Bosnian striker, but VAR referee Cătălin Popa upheld the original decision, allowing Mitriță to score from the spot.
Braun’s goal marked his second in eight Romania Superliga appearances this season, underscoring his strong form for Rapid București.
