Ghana’s Amputee national team, the Black Challenge, have touched down in Accra following their success at the 2024 Amputee African Cup of Nations (AAFCON).
Ghana came from behind to beat Morocco in the final of the competition which was staged in Cairo, Egypt, to win the tournament for the second consecutive time.
The team initially fell behind, but Mohammed Mubarak’s penalty equalized the score.
The match was characterized by relentless back-and-forth play, with Ghana’s goalkeeper making remarkable saves to maintain the deadlock.
As regulation time ended with no clear victor, the game extended into extra time.
Early in the extra period, Mubarak struck again, propelling Ghana into the lead for the first time.
The Black Challenge successfully defended this lead throughout extra time, ultimately securing the trophy.
Following their triumph, the team touched down in Accra on Tuesday afternoon to a hero’s welcome at the Kotoka International Airport.
