In a commanding display of skill and determination, Berekum Chelsea secured a resounding 3-0 victory over Karela United on Sunday during match week 19 of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League.
After a goalless first half at the Golden City Park, the Berekum Blues unleashed a flurry of goals in the second half, marking a triumphant return to form following their previous defeat to Bibiani Gold Stars.
The win propelled Berekum Chelsea to fifth place in the league standings with 30 points, climbing from their seventh position at the start of the day. On the other hand, Karela United experienced a drop from 14th to 15th position, ending the day with 20 points.
Mezack Afriyie ignited the scoring for the home team just four minutes into the second half, setting the tone for Berekum Chelsea’s dominance. Afriyie then doubled the lead in the 67th minute with a clinical finish, further solidifying his team’s control over the match.
In the sixth minute of added time, Kusi Pandrous sealed the victory for Berekum Chelsea with a well-timed goal, capping off a memorable performance for the home side.
Berekum Chelsea will next face Accra Lions in an away fixture on Wednesday, March 6, for match week 20 of the Ghana Premier League.
Meanwhile, Karela United is set to host Asante Kotoko at the Naa Sherigaa Sports Complex in Nalerigu on the same day.
