Lamine Camara, the 19-year-old Senegalese midfielder, clinched the 2023 Men’s Young Player of the Year award at the ongoing CAF awards in Morocco.
Competing against Abdessamad Ezzalzouli and Amara Diouf, he secured the prize on Monday night.
Having risen through the ranks with FC Metz, contributing to their ascent from Ligue 2 to Ligue 1, Camara showcased his skills in nine Ligue 1 matches this season, scoring one goal. His standout moment, however, was leading Senegal to victory in the African Cup of Nations, earning the man of the match title three times.
Continuing his stellar performance, Camara excelled in the TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, where he was recognized as the competition’s best player.
This success led him to join FC Metz in France, where he continues to excel, earning him a spot in the senior Senegalese national team.
