The Black Stars defender made an impressive mark on his official debut for the Turkish club on Thursday night.
The defender recently joined the Turkish Super Lig team on a free transfer, leaving his previous stay in England behind.
Although he missed out on a starting role in Besiktas’ UEFA Europa Conference League playoffs against Albanian outfit KF Tirana, Amartey was brought into the game during the break to bolster the team’s defense.
Speaking after the game, Amartey expressed his excitement especially with the debut goal.
In his debut, just ten minutes after coming on, the Black Stars center-back scored a fantastic goal, propelling Besiktas into the lead.
His goal proved to be an inspiration for the Turkish side, as veteran forward Vincent Aboubakar scored a second goal in the 76th minute.
“I feel very good. We performed well and stuck to the tactical discipline. I can say that we felt good as a team.” Said the Ghanaian international.
“I’m new here but we are a family. We have to support each other on the field. We have to help each other as a team.”Amartey concluded.
