Ghana forward, Abdul-Aziz Yakubu, is hoping his great form for Rio Ave this season will see him earn a place in Otto Addo’s squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The 23-year-old has scored five goals in seven Primeira Liga games after helping the side to secure qualification.
Though he was snubbed for the Black Stars’ upcoming games against Brazil and Nicaragua, the forward is hopeful his numbers will give him a case to go to the World Cup.
“I think so [on whether he has a chance], the numbers speak for me,” Aziz told Zerozero in an interview.
“Ghanaian websites and journalists talk about me, so I believe, let’s see. I hope to have the opportunity to represent my country one day and if it’s at the World Cup, perfect.”
