Ghanaian defender Godfred Asante says the Ghana Premier League has quality but the Guinean Ligue 1 is more competitive.
Asante who features for champions Horoya AC stressed that the influx of foreign players in the Ligue 1 has taken it to a different level as it has added value and color to the competition
“In Ghana, we have the quality interns of skills and understanding of the game but here in Guinea the standard of the league is very high. There are lots of foreign players from other countries from other African countries and that makes it great. My team alone we have like eighteen foreign players and that helps us especially in CAF competitions as there is dynamism in our game.”Asante told Sportsworldghana.
“This season has been good for me, we have been declared the ligue 1 champions and the CAF Confederations Cup also I plated all the matches up to the quarter finals before I got injured.”
The towering central defender also emphasized that moving to AC Horoya has been very helpful to him as it is a very big club and he has improved upon his game working with great coaches and national team players.
“Signing for Horoya has been very beneficial as I have been handled by top coaches namely Patrice Neveu, Didier Gomes and now Lamine Ndiaye. Also most of my team mates are regular national team players so if you are with such players, you learn a lot from them.” Asante added.
Asante joined AC Horoya from Dreams FC on April 13, 2018 and has gone on to become a pillar in the heart of defence of the Conakry-based club.
He previously also played for Heart of Lions, Asante Kotoko, Great Olympics, Dreams FC and the Black Stars B team.
