Thomas Partey ended his long wait for an international goal with a brace in Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Madagascar on Monday.
The Arsenal midfielder, who last scored for the Black Stars in their crucial 2022 World Cup qualifier against Nigeria, delivered a standout performance over two years later.
Partey opened the scoring in the 11th minute, firing home from a Jordan Ayew free kick. He doubled his tally in the 54th minute with a powerful header from another Ayew corner before Mohammed Kudus sealed the victory with a third goal.
His return to the scoresheet is a major boost for Otto Addo’s squad as they continue their push for World Cup qualification. Partey showcased his leadership and experience, controlling the midfield while contributing both offensively and defensively.
With this victory, Ghana strengthens its position at the top of Group I, opening a five-point lead in the race for a World Cup spot.
