Ghana captain Thomas Partey has praised the electric atmosphere at the Baba Yara Stadium, describing it as “amazing” ahead of the Black Stars’ 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying opener against Angola.
The match, scheduled for today, marks the beginning of Ghana’s Group F campaign.
In an interview with SuperSport, Partey expressed his gratitude for the unwavering support from the Kumasi fans and urged them to come out in full force to back the team as they aim for a strong start.
“The supporters have been really amazing,” Partey said. “We have played most of our games here, and I believe we have won all of them, thanks to the fantastic support. I really love playing here, but I hope they will continue with their support, and if we one day play in Accra, we will get the same fans.”
The Black Stars will kick off their AFCON qualifying journey against the Palancas Negras of Angola at 16:00 GMT. Victory in this opener is crucial as Ghana looks to secure early momentum in their quest for an 11th consecutive AFCON appearance.
