Ahead of the last two match days to complete the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifications series SPORTSWorldGhana.com takes a look at qualifying Group K and presents that each teams need in order to qualify for the finals of the tournament.
Burkina Faso – 8 points
The 2013 AFCON finalists needs at least four points to guaranteed their qualification. They play against Uganda first before playing at home against South Sudan. A draw and a win would be enough in these games for Burkina.
Also a defeat against Uganda and a win over South Sudan qualifies Burkina Faso.
Uganda – 7 points
A win over Burkina Faso and at least a draw away at Malawi will be enough to put Uganda in the tournament finals.
If Malawi beat South Sudan and Uganda win over Burkina but lose away at Malawi , then Uganda and Malawi will be at 10 points each and the head to head rule will be applied.
Malawi – 4 points
Malawi needs to beat both South Sudan and Uganda to get 10 points. If this happen and Uganda beat Burkina and then Burkina win over South Sudan then this is how the standings will be.
Burkina top the group with 11 points. Malawi and Uganda get 10 points each and will be separated using the tie breaking criteria for this qualification tournament.
South Sudan – 3 points
They need to win both games against Malawi and Burkina Faso and hope that Uganda beat Burkina Faso too. Tjis will make Uganda and South Sudan to qualify.
